Campaign

In LeadShake, one card and the register that goes with it. Your account has a default campaign that never expires, and each Event Pass opens an extra one for 30 days so an event keeps its contacts separate.

A campaign is a public page at an address of the form /c/name-a1b2c3, plus everything attached to it: the card people see, the form they fill in, the register that fills up, and the counters that tell you how it went.

Your account starts with one. It never expires and cannot be deleted, because it is the card you carry every day.

Why separate an event from everyday life

The contacts you make at a three day fair are not the same material as the ones you collect over a year of meetings. Mixed into a single list they lose the one thing that made them useful, which is the context of where and when you met.

A separate campaign keeps that context without any tagging discipline on your part. It carries its own name, its own dates, its own links and its own document, and its register can be exported on its own the Monday after.

Thirty days, then read only

A campaign opened with an Event Pass captures for thirty days from activation. When that runs out, the page stops accepting new contacts and the campaign becomes read only.

Nothing is deleted. Every contact already captured stays searchable and exportable for as long as your account exists, which is the distinction worth remembering: the deadline applies to capture, never to what was captured.

Pointing a tag at a new campaign is a matter of rewriting the address on it, so the same physical card serves one event after another.

Questions

They stay. The campaign stops capturing and turns read only, but every contact already in the register remains searchable and exportable for as long as your account exists. The deadline applies to capture, not to what was captured.

Related terms

Event Pass
A one off purchase, 19 EUR, that opens one extra campaign for 30 days. The 30 days only start when you activate it, so it can be bought before the event. It is a payment, not a subscription.
Lead capture
Collecting the contact details of someone you met, with their agreement, so you can follow up. It is the reverse of a business card: instead of giving your details away, you record theirs.
NFC
Near Field Communication, a radio standard that lets two devices exchange a small amount of data when they are a few centimetres apart. On a business card it holds one thing: a web address. The card carries no battery and stores no personal data.
